The Problem
Many associations have a donation page somewhere on their site or standalone in Community Hub, but the people most likely to give are already in the middle of another transaction. They are renewing a membership, registering for an event, or purchasing a product. By the time they finish and navigate to a separate donation page, the moment has passed.
Nimble AMS offers a donation extension for Community Hub’s My Checkout page, but it ships with interface quirks and usability gaps that can frustrate members and reduce conversion. Suggested amounts sort unpredictably, the "Other Amount" field is always visible (even when a suggested amount is selected), and validation feedback after an invalid entry forces the user to start over rather than correct their input.
What It Does
- Adds a donation card directly to the checkout page that only appears when the member does not already have a donation in their cart
- Displays all active, self-service-enabled donation products with descriptions, so members can choose the fund that matters to them.
- Optionally, users can be locked in to donate to a single fund only.
- Presents suggested donation amounts sorted numerically from lowest to highest, addressing a Salesforce sort order quirk
- Refreshes the suggested amounts if the member selects a different donation product, so the options always match the selected fund
- Gracefully handles donation products that have no suggested amounts configured
- Shows US Dollar signs to clearly communicate the denomination, which is particularly helpful for international users
- Shows custom amount entry only when the member explicitly chooses it, keeping the default selection screen clean and focused
- If a member enters an invalid amount (e.g., $0, or below an optional minimum amount), they see a clear error message and can correct it in place without losing their product selection
- Adds the donation to the same cart and checkout in a single transaction with no extra navigation
